How to Submit Testimony
This year, the Legislature will conduct much of its business in a hybrid format, including public hearings. You can testify in person, virtually, or by submitting written testimony. Your testimony matters. Thank you for speaking up!
In-Person Testimony
- Bring 20 hard copies of your testimony for the Committee members.
- Public hearings often run late—plan to be in the Committee room longer than scheduled.
- No pre-registration is required—just go to the Committee room and sign in.
Virtual Testimony
- Register at least 30 minutes before the hearing starts.
- After registering, you’ll receive details on joining via Zoom.
- When you log in, you’ll only see the Committee members (that’s normal!).
- The Committee will bring you on screen when it’s your turn to testify.
- You’ll have 3 minutes to speak. A timer may be visible, and you’ll get a gentle reminder when time is up.
- After testifying, you can offer to answer questions—it’s okay to say, “I don’t know.”
Written Testimony
- Submit your written testimony here.
Additional Information
- Time flies! You only have 3 minutes, so focus on your key message and a compelling story.
- Practice with a friend to ensure you can deliver your testimony within the time limit. If needed, submit a longer version online and use a shorter version for live testimony—just let the Committee know.
- Personal stories make the biggest impact. You don’t need to be a policy expert—sharing why you care is more powerful than listing statistics.
