During Trans Awareness Week, let’s make some thing During Trans Awareness Week, let’s make some things clear: Trans people have ALWAYS existed, will ALWAYS exist, and will ALWAYS belong in our communities. Full stop! ❤️‍🔥

Trans people have led the charge during the gay liberation movement and other civil rights movements, and cared for people with AIDs during the AIDs epidemic.

They have made groundbreaking discoveries and advancements in tech, engineering, medicine, music, neurobiology, the arts and more! Let’s celebrate and honor their accomplishments.

In 2025, the nationwide legislative attacks on trans people are the highest they’ve ever been throughout US history. Awareness isn’t enough: it’s time to act! If you are a cis person with privilege, use it to fight for trans people!

And to our wonderful trans loved ones: Your right to be happy, healthy, included, and safe is not up for debate. We see you, we support you, we love you, and we will ALWAYS keep fighting by your side. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

We breathe a sigh of relief for our community, AND we also acknowledge that the fight for LGBTQ+ rights is ongoing, as attacks on trans people continue to be on the rise nationwide.

Our Executive Director Gia Drew said this: “While we celebrate this decision, there’s a lot of work to do to make sure that everyone who is LGBTQ+, here in their own country, feels like they can live their lives.”

Today is Intersex Day of Remembrance and Solidarit Today is Intersex Day of Remembrance and Solidarity, and we honor and celebrate the intersex community worldwide. 💛💜

An estimated 1.78% of people are intersex — about as common as having red hair or green eyes. Yet, intersex people still face discrimination, stigma, and harmful medical practices like non-consensual surgeries performed to make their bodies fit the narrow sex binary, usually as infants.

This day is a call to end Intersex Genital Mutilation (IGM) and ensure that all intersex people can live freely, without medical violence or erasure. All people should have the right to bodily integrity and autonomy.

Yesterday, the Supreme Court allowed the federal g Yesterday, the Supreme Court allowed the federal government to restrict passport gender markers to the sex assigned at birth.

Trans, gender expansive, and intersex people are no longer able to apply for gender marker changes that reflect their identities (for the time being).

This is not a final decision, nor is it the end of the road for litigation on this issue. Legal challenges are ongoing.

Our community will move forward together and we will keep fighting and caring for one another.

We know you may be feeling anxious, exhausted, or unsafe. This ruling doesn’t change or define who you are.

Having mismatched - and frankly, incorrect - gender markers is wrong.

This is also something that is frequently experienced by trans and gender expansive folks. We can persist, even when the government takes action to make our lives harder.

We will keep fighting and caring for one another until every 2SLGBTQIA+ person can live freely and thrive.

Thanks to all of your support, we defeated a ballot measure that would have restricted voting rights, and approved a measure to help create safer communities in Maine! Everyone deserves the freedom to vote safely and securely in a way that works for them, and it was so wonderful to see Mainers affirm that.

Passing Question 2 empowers both families and law enforcement to go directly to a judge when they know someone with access to deadly weapons is in crisis.

This would not have been possible without all of you: people who believe in a Maine where everyone has the right to safety, support, and access to participating in our democracy. 🗳
Tomorrow, November 4 is Election Day! Have you mad Tomorrow, November 4 is Election Day! Have you made your plan to vote yet?

Check iwillvote.com/votinginfo/ME for info on where to vote, polling location hours and more. Swipe through to learn more about NO on 1 and YES on 2, as well as your voting rights. And, make sure to check in with your friends, family and neighbors to ensure they’ve made their plan to vote!

❌Save Absentee Voting - vote NO ON 1!
Question #1 would:
🗳heavily restrict access to absentee voting and early voting
🗳Limit the number of ballot drop-off boxes a town can offer
🗳Eliminate the ability to sign up for ongoing absentee ballots for older adults and people with disabilities
🗳Shorten the time period for early voting by two days

✅Make our communities safer - vote YES ON 2!
A YES on 2 would:
🚩offer Mainers a critical new avenue to help and protect their loved ones and curb gun violence in our state
🚩allow family members to go directly to a judge when a loved one is in crisis
🚩temporarily limit their access to deadly weapons if a judge finds they pose a danger to themselves or others

Heads up! You may see folks at some polling locations around the state asking you to sign a petition to get a question about students’ rights to play on sports teams and use the bathroom on the 2026 ballot. Similar to the proposed (and defeated) anti-trans legislation we saw last session in Maine, if passed, this ballot initiative would overturn decades of settled law, roll back human rights in Maine schools, and encourage harassment and discrimination against trans youth.

This ballot measure attempt has been on our radar, and we will continue to follow its progress and keep you updated going forward. We urge you NOT to sign the petition!

As you already know, this citizen’s initiative is part of a national political agenda that threatens so many core Maine values. We know that Mainers believe in building trusting relationships with our neighbors and creating welcoming communities that give youth a chance to grow, connect, and thrive without additional hurdles. That’s why we’re asking you to decline to sign!
