About SAGE Maine

This is a graphic featuring several photos of SAGE Maine members at events. These photos surround the SAGE Maine logo.

SAGE Maine is an affiliate of SAGE USA, a national services and advocacy organization for older LGBTQ+ adults. As of November 2019, SAGE Maine has become a program of EqualityMaine, to ensure the longevity and sustainability of our programs.

SAGE Maine’s primary focus is to support and advocate on behalf of the older adults in our community. In the past, SAGE Maine’s wonderful volunteers have run monthly dinners, movie nights, ukulele groups, and more! They also provided resources for older adults across the state in need of support and community. To help support the goals and mission of our SAGE Maine program, an additional team member was added to the EqualityMaine staff through AmeriCorps VISTA to better support our SAGE programs and communication.

All SAGE Maine programming is currently virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A list of regularly occurring programs includes:

  • The SAGE Maine Speaker Series: Open to anyone across the state, this series features speakers tackling various topics on Zoom. It meets on the second Friday of each month at 1 p.m.

  • SAGE Maine Virtual Happy Hours: Join this casual statewide get-together hosted by community members! Bring your own drink, whether that’s a cocktail, coffee, or water. These are on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month from 5 - 6 p.m.

  • Cooking with SAGE Maine: This event features members of the SAGE Maine community as they teach a recipe on Zoom. Join us on the first Saturday of each month at noon.

  • SAGE Bangor Meet and Greets: These events are a great way for the local Bangor community to stay connected via Zoom. Join the group on the fourth Friday of each month at 1 p.m.
